Below you will find some of the questions we get asked. For any other enquiries please contact us for assistance.
It's important that clients hire the correct mobility equipment for their medical condition and cruise line rather than making a decision based on the price. By having an initial conversation with our team, they will provide you with a few options and confirm the costs so that you can make an informed choice.
No they are not. At the present time the insurance is your responsibility to find. It may be worth checking on your Travel Insurance Policy or Household Policy if you own your own mobility scooter. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any recommendations at the present time but are working towards it.
You do not need a blue badge but we will ask you to sign a declaration as self-certification of exemption. Exemption applies if you have a chronic medical condition such as Diabetes, Arthritis etc.
Yes, we’d be glad to supply the equipment you need (subject to availability). The usual daily charges will apply and an additional delivery charge unless you take the product to the cruise with you the following day.
No. For health and safety reasons this would not be encouraged. We do however have specific equipment that you can use in the bath. Just ask!
Depending on the terminal yes we can. If applicable, we have agreed designated areas for this which would be confirmed with you during your pre cruise call. We are able to deliver the products directly to your cabin (on the majority of cruise lines) which most clients find more beneficial.
Most cruise ships have a small stock of equipment which they allocate on a first come, first serve basis. These shower stools are generic so may not be suitable for everyone. Please call us to discuss your requirements first to ensure you can make an informed choice.
Some ships have limited supplies on board which are in high demand, if this is a crucial piece of equipment then it is worth booking early with us to avoid disappointment and to secure the product.
Depending on the cruise line, yes but please confirm the door width with your cruise provider as options may be limited. Please note, that for P&O Cruises and Cunard you need to book a cabin suitable for a powered mobility device and have an evacuation chair assigned to you, otherwise you will be refused.
Due to the increased traffic at the ports and changes to security procedures this is usually, unfortunately, not possible. We are able to deliver inside the terminal, but you or your travel companion would need to collect from there. It is always worth speaking to your cruise provider as they may be able to arrange wheelchair assistance for you.
Yes, we want you to enjoy the places you visit. All we ask is that you look after the scooter and don’t leave it unattended. Please read the safety instructions which outline the limitations, for example, the gradient of slopes that it can handle.
No, the sand will cause considerable damage to the motor. Also please do not use the steep slopes down to beach cafés etc.
No, as there is limited space available in the dining rooms. It must be left outside the dining hall – unless arrangements have been made, or it is otherwise stated onboard. If this is crucial, we would recommend that you hire an electric wheelchair that would be permitted.
Not usually. We provide our own if the equipment requires one, as we need to make sure that it is compliant.
e usually provide one if the product requires it however yes, it would be a good idea to bring an adaptor with you. There are plenty of shops onboard, so you'll be able to buy one if necessary.
Yes, this is your responsibility. The cruise provider will need details of the equipment including the dimensions and product make/model. Failure to disclose this may result in the equipment being refused. For all equipment hired, as part of the confirmation of order, we will send you the exact information that you need to transcribe on to the Cruise Mobility Questionnaires.
Battery range will differ depending on the scooter style and battery type. Factors like user weight, terrain, usage on inclines and weather will affect and change the range capability of the scooter. We recommend charging the batteries all night every night and take the charger with you to top up if necessary.

I recently cruised from Southampton and had found Mobility at Sea via Google. I read some reviews and decided to use the service. I am so pleased I found this company. Seamless from start to finish. I have no hesitation in recommending this company for anyone out there with mobility issues. I’ll be using them again next year and for future holidays. 5* service.

So glad we arranged eqpt hire with P&O's preferred supplier. MaS were able to liaise directly with ship when a problem with hoist arose, mid-cruise & resolved it.

Even in an accessible room I couldn't cruise without the shower chair and toilet surround which I hire because the ships, one size fits all fittings doesn't suit me. A rollator helps in the cabin. A hired powered wheelchair avoids my husband having to push my own manual wheelchair the length of these ships, and gives me independence too.
